On her birthday, ANC Provincial Treasurer Nomusa Dube-Ncube, eThekwini Region leadership led Deputy Chair by Thembo Ntuli and councilllors brought much needed relief to the seven members of Mncube in KwaXimba.
Dube-Ncube remarked: “We are very encouraged by the commitment of the regional and local leadership towards changing the lives of local communities.”
“Our presence today is an indication that we have all been touched by the conditions of squalor under which seven members of Mncube family lived for a very long time. We thank all role players who have made it possible for this family to have a decent shelter.”
The 52-year-old Zinhle Mncube received a wheelchair, appliances, furniture, food and other necessary interventions to lift the family out of poverty.
Nomusa Dube-Ncube continued: “We commend the new leadership of eThekwini region for working collectively to turn things around. We acknowledge the important role of councillors in ensuring service delivery. You must always remember that by voting you and all of us into office, the electorate laid their trust in you as councillors. They placed a great burden on your shoulders to help get them out of poverty. We need not betray that trust placed upon all of us.”
Ntuli, who is acting as the Regional Chair due to a step-aside rule which affected Zandile Gumede reiterate their commitment to make the local government work better. He pointed out: “Ahead of local government elections we conducted home visits to discuss ordinary members of society their experiences in the last term of office of the current councillors. We have learned what needs to be done to ensure councillors remain accountable to communities. We commit to continue to work together to improve the living conditions in all corners of eThekwini municipality.”
