The African National Congress conveys its best wishes to the Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Jessie Duarte, as she continues to receive medical care for her illness.
The DSG was first admitted to hospital in November 2021. She has been on medical leave whilst undergoing treatment.
She continues to be assisted in the execution of her duties and functions by the Treasurer General, Comrade Paul Mashatile, to ensure that the work of the Office of the Secretary General continues uninterrupted.
We wish her and her family well during this challenging time and call upon all members, the public, and the media to respect the privacy and dignity of the DSG and her family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Comrade Jessie Duarte and her family.
