ActionSA said on Monday that it will redesign its party logo, following feedback from its supporters.

ActionSA has been challenging the decision by the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) to reject the party’s application to register as a political party.

The IEC said it had rejected ActionSA’s application owing to logo similarities with another political party and its use of the South African flag in its logo.

The commission explained that ActionSA may submit a new application for registration with a revised symbol or logo.

Last week, ActionSA took to social media asking supporters to vote on whether the party should continue with the appeals process or redesign its logo.

“ActionSA will now move swiftly to amend its logo and re-initiate its registration process so that we can focus on what South Africans need, an alternative government presenting solutions to the challenges that confront our people on a daily basis,” said ActionSA president Herman Mashaba.

He said the party would rather use its legal resources in private prosecutions instead of in a legal battle with the IEC.
