COMMENCEMENT: CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA, 1996 (ACT No. 108 OF 1996):

Under section 243 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No. 108 of 1996) (hereafter referred to as the Constitution), I hereby set-

  1. 4 February 1997 as the date on which the Constitution, but excluding section 160 (1) (b), comes into effect; and
  2. 30 June 1997 as the date on which section 160 (1) (b) of the Constitution comes into effect.
