President Jacob Zuma will market and promote opportunities offered through the New Growth Path (NGP) at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, this week.

The President, who was accompanied by a number of Ministers including Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies, aimed to promote international partnerships driving growth, eradicating poverty, inequality and unemployment.

The event, which was being held from January 25 to 29, supplied a platform for leaders to explore emerging conceptual models and solutions, as well as collaborate on risks and opportunities ahead.

“The NGP is premised on promoting employment-creating growth in six priority areas: infrastructure development, agriculture, mining and beneficiation, manufacturing, the green economy and tourism,” the Presidency reiterated in a statement on Wednesday.

A key area of focus for South Africa, which would improve the competitiveness and productivity of the economy, was infrastructure development, such as ports, rail, roads, electricity, water, communications and logistics.

Zuma would also promote the African agenda and the interests of the African continent.
