The Young Communist League of South Africa [Ufasimba] welcomes the decision to launch a preliminary investigation in to the alleged Apartheid plundering by the Public Protector [PP]. The decision has been long over due and it must be completed as a matter of urgency.

We have always maintained that the Apartheid regime was corrupt and was administered by fraudsters. During the collapse of the regime funds were siphoned from the state to the Broerdebond, businessmen, and even surprisingly the Dutch Reformed Church to ensure a happy ever after the collapse of the regime. Between 1976 and 1994 it is alleged that about R200 Billion was plundered.

We appeal to the state to avail resources to Advocate Thuli Madonsela and her office to pursue this matter for these looters to be brought to book. We demand that groups like ABSA offer their full co-operation in this investigation. No stone must be left unturned; those responsible must be given very harsh jail sentences and punishment.

We further call on the investigative arm of the law and the South African Police Services to stop intimidating tactics towards the Public Protector, and if there are any charges against her, they should be brought before a court of law and be tested. In the face of it, without being prejudicial, it seems as though she is being forced into quiescence in order not to pursue investigations before her.
