The Young Communist League of South Africa notes the outcomes and sanctions thereof by the National Disciplinary Committee [NDC] of the African National Congress [ANC] in relation to the charges that were brought forward against office bearers of the African National Congress Youth League [ANCYL].

As the YCL we appreciate the decision taken by the NDC since the ANC remains a mother body to the youth structure and all structures should uphold the decision as taken by the NDC of the ANC. We have faith in the ANC to manage this internal process with precision and ensure a smooth transition from here on.

While noting that this should be a lesson to young comrades who still form part of the preparatory school of the ANC and that no member is bigger than the organisation we also take note of the fact that this unfortunate milestone happens for the first time in the history of the ANC Youth League.

It is upon the members of the ANCYL to ensure that such does not repeat itself especially if we are committed into the duty of defending and advancing the legacies of YL founders like Harry Gwala, Oliver Tambo, Walter Sisulu, Nelson Mandela, Antone Lembede, and Ashley Peter Mda.
