The Young Communist league of South Africa (uFasimba) welcomes President Jacob Zuma's firm stance against corruption within government. His recent decision to investigate four major departments is a step in the right direction in tackling corruption in the public sector.
We have seen numerous cases where government officials have been implicated in irregular tender processes and involvement in unscrupulous illegal activities to the detriment of government and service delivery to our people. We hope that even when the probe is completed and names of officials are exposed, the president will act with promptness to ensure that the law takes its course.
Corruption is a growing cancer which has manifested itself as a barrier between our people and government. Service delivery protests around the country are a clear illustration of frustrations looming as a result lack of service delivery. We hope that harsh measures will be taken against those found to be perpetrators and a strong message be sent out that corruption has no place in our society.
