The Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba) congratulates the LOC and fellow South Africans for hosting a successful world cup. This event has silenced critiques and affirmed that Africa is well capable of competing with the best internationally.

The LOC recently had confirmed that they were expecting to make surmountable profits from the event. We urge that they will still maintain their commitment to sporting development and use these funds to develop areas that are in dire need of soccer facilities; particularly soccer academies in disadvantaged communities .

A lot of potential talent tends to wither away even before a chance is awarded due to the infrastructural problems that a lot of provinces still encounter in areas of soccer. This cannot be purely governments' responsibility to address, but its equally SAFA's responsibility to nurture our soccer talent

We also call for the process of profit distribution to be transparent as Jordaan specifically stated in a statement previously that, the LOC planned to publish its audited financial statements by September. This will minimise any attempt to solicit the profits made, to fill greedy pockets of individuals to the detriment of our people. Government should equally use the same amount of zeal and enthusiasm illustrated during the World cup preparations and event in fighting social inequalities and poverty.

In as much as we do not want to fall in the pit of rumours on possible Xenophobic attacks, we urge the SAPS to use the same amount of vigour in continuing to fight crime post the world cup, particularly in our poor communities that are now being threatened by alleged xenophobic violence.

Well done to Spain in winning the World Cup. Their Victory and teams like Germany and Ghana affirm that investing in long-term soccer development programmes yields rewards at the end. Development of Soccer is not only about the players but also retaining and investing in a formidable coaching team.
