The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in the province of Gauteng is disgusted at the so-called Gauteng South African Communist Party (SACP) leaders regarding an article that appeared on Friday 27 November 2009 in the Mail and Guardian newspaper, page 4. These so-called SACP Gauteng leaders are attributed to be saying that part of our General Secretary Comrade Blade Nzimande's appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Training is because of his position in the SACP, which is regarded as his constituency; and that there is "a monophonic and uncritical approach to all issues relating to Nzimande" in the SACP.
As the YCLSA we are part of the SACP Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), which held its last meeting on Sunday 22 November 2009 to prepare for the Party's forthcoming Special National Congress (SNC) to be held in Limpopo, Mankweng. We want to state openly that the above misconceptions neither come from nor reflect any position from the Gauteng SACP PEC. We distance ourselves not only from these misconceptions but also from the misguided agenda that they seek to advance.
We previously identified that there are elements that are determined to destabilize the SACP and the YCLSA in Gauteng and capture in order to run them in parallel to, and as if they were independent formations from, the SACP and the YCLSA nationally. These so-called SACP leaders who appear as faceless sources in the Mail and Guardian can only be part of these elements that are also collaborating with more other external forces including parasitic capitalists from whom they draw financial backing. Their misconceived agenda is linked to processes underway to establish a post- and pseudo-COPE (Congress of the People) anti-SACP leftwing formation. So confused are these elements that part of their agenda is the seizure of the African National Congress-led National Liberation Movement by parasitic capitalists in an axis with corrupt government officials and established capital.
These elements operate among others tactics by attacks not only on the SACP, but also on its leaders as it is clearly done in Mail and Guardian. As the YCL in Gauteng we shall not be deterred a bit from defending both the SACP and its leaders from these elements, their likes and collaborators elsewhere. We not only condemn these elements to the contempt it deserves, but we shall as part of our inherent programme fortify both our offensive and defensive mechanisms in order to emerge victorious against them. They are doomed to fail!
We also wish to reiterate that whilst we are in an alliance, all SACP cadres who serve in legislative bodies and in various capacities at different spheres of government are deployees of the African National Congress (ANC). They serve in their capacity, like all other ANC members, as the movement's loyal cadres who duly qualified for the purpose.
We want to reaffirm our support not only to SACP General Secretary comrade Blade Nzimande, but also to Deputy General Secretary comrade Jeremy Cronin, National Chairperson comrade Gwede Mantashe, National Deputy Chairperson comrade Joyce Moloi and National Treasure comrade Phumulo Masuale and the rest of dedicated serving Central Committee (CC) members.
In Mankweng we shall return with a stronger SACP!
