WESTERN CAPE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY: PARTNERS IN BUILDING THE WORLD
CLASS PROVINCE
Introduction
The key promise of our Provincial Government is to build, in the
Western Cape, a World Class Province which Cares for all our
people. There are few sectors of our economy which are more
directly affected by this promise than our partners in the
construction industry.
Our Government was approached last year by a number of
representatives from the industry who shared with us their concerns
and perspectives on the current state of the sector in the Western
Cape. This summit is the result of a commitment which flowed from
those meetings, and I have no doubt that the discussions and
workshops, which will take place today, will make a meaningful
contribution to strengthening the linkages between the construction
industry and all three spheres of government.
