This is an action for damages arising form an alleged unlawful arrest, detention and assault. The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the sum of R200 000-00, interest plus costs. The plaintiff was arrested and detained on 21 July 2006 at about 16h00. He was released from such detention at the Magistrate’s Court in Grahamstown on the morning of Monday, the 24th July 2006.
