The attack happened at 2:20 pm yesterday, the military said in a statement.
"One Task Force Baghdad soldier was killed and four others wounded during a rocket attack on a coalition base northwest of Baghdad," it said, giving no further details.
The latest fatality brought the US military death toll in Iraq to 797 since the start of the US-led invasion in March 2003. This figure includes 581 troops killed in action. - Sapa-AFP
