The United Democratic Movement condemns in the strongest terms the SABC's
unfair promotion of the ANC by giving it live television and radio coverage
during its manifesto launch for the upcoming Local Government Elections. The
SABC continues with its shameful conduct of attempting to increase the
support of the ANC during elections by only giving it live coverage during
its manifesto launches.
In 2009, opposition parties fought hard to ensure that ,at least, not less
than seven opposition parties' manifesto launches were given live coverage.
The UDM would like to appeal to the SABC to follow its 2009 example by
giving live coverage to the 2011 manifesto launches of opposition parties as
well, in order to help level the playing field. The UDM finds the SABC's
promotion of a one party state utterly intolerable.
