The UDM welcomes the scientific breakthrough by South African scientists who have developed a microbicide gel which provides a strong degree of protection against the transmission of HIV. We commend Government and the American partners in this research.
South Africa is finally shedding its image as a haven for denialists and demonstrating that we have the willingness and fortitude to lead the fight against this pandemic.
Would it not be entirely appropriate if South Africa, as the cradle of mankind, should also be the eventual source of the solution to this dreaded disease?
