The United Democratic Movement Women’s Organisation (UDEMWO) is perplexed by the silence of the African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) on the Limpopo textbook debacle and the role of Minister of Education Angie Motshekga therein. Does their silence mean they agree with the call that she should be axed?

UDEMWO does not agree that Minister Motshekga should be fired for the failures of the officials i.e. those made responsible for implementing. Where does the Director General and his officials feature in this debacle? We have not heard a word from these officials since this whole mess became known.

One does not have to be a scientist to realise that the “Mangaung factor” is yet again at play. The African National Congress (ANC) leadership acts inconsiderate towards our learners, who are running out of time, while they play their political games.

UDEMWO condemns that the ANC’s infighting is destroying our children’s future and is wasting taxpayers’ money in the process.
