The trade union UASA has sent an open letter about unprotected strikes and the effect of these on UASA members to the excutive officers of Impala Platinum, Lonmin, Anglo Platinum and Rustenburg.
In the letter UASA’s acting COO, Leon Grobler, says the platinum mining sector has been subjected to one of the most severe strikes in the history of South Africa.
Grobler emphasises that UASA members want to work and earn a living to support their families and loved ones, but are prevented from doing so by being publicly humiliated and even killed by strikers.
The full letter is attached for your perusal.
