While the nation is still reeling from the shock cabinet reshuffle at midnight, UASA has had enough of the total disrespect for the country and its people by President Jacob Zuma. The fact that we are facing serious challenges economically, socially and otherwise clearly does not bother him. It would appear as if he is a law onto himself and any endeavours to bring him to book have had very little or no effect. Not even the Constitutional Court or Public Protector findings seem to have any effect.
Now that he has the keys to the vault we can expect the cronyism, corruption and the alleged state of capture by the Gupta family to be enhanced and accelerated.
It is abundantly clear that he successfully factionalised the once proud ANC with its proud struggle history and that he seems to be untouchable from within. Meanwhile, he is leaving a trail of economic destruction, state capture and corruption in his wake, while South Africans are held captive on the runaway Zuma train. Unfortunately, the train ticket will cost substantially more in the face of rising inflation and an economic downgrade which is now a certainty.
It is simply unacceptable that an entire country should fall victim to the mercy of one man. He has absolutely no accountability in dealing with our hard-earned tax money.
There must be something we can do.
UASA started a process of mobilising its members and will initiate talks with like-minded organisations and the public to join us in a mass mobilisation campaign to stop the reckless leadership of Jacob Zuma.
He pulled the trigger when he fired Pravin Gordhan last night! We call on all like-minded South Africans to join in. Let us unite to save our country and its people!
