After Beshir's meeting earlier Wednesday in Nairobi with Grarang the two men announced that talks aimed at ending the civil war would resume at the weekend.
Garang heads the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), based in the south of the country and the largest armed group fighting the Islamic regime in Khartoum in a war over religion, resources and power.
Wednesday's meeting was the second face-to-face encounter between the two leaders since the SPLA took up arms in 1983 - Sapa-AFP
