The Chamber of Mines has noted with interest the announcement by the Minister of Minerals Resources, Ms Susan Shabangu on measures to bring stability to South Africa's mining sector.

"The Chamber of Mines is delighted by Minister Shabangu's announcement. The Chamber of Mines and its members have been working with the Department of Mineral Resources on a number of forums to address some of the concerns that the Chamber and its members believe are impediments to the sustainable growth and meaningful transformation of South Africa's mining industry. We believe that the plans to remove regulatory uncertainties within the MPRDA will also assist the mining industry to attract foreign direct investment which is critical to the country and industry's competitiveness. We therefore wish to express our support and commitment to the Minister and her Department in implementing these initiatives and to finding solutions to our common challenges. We would also like to take this opportunity to commend the Minister for her leadership", said Mr Zoli Diliza.
