The Chief Executive of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa, Mr Bheki Sibiya, today issued a statement in response to media enquiries on the position of the Chamber of Mines regarding the launch of the first project of the African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation (AEMFC).

In his statement, Mr Sibiya said, “I am pleased to reconfirm the Chamber’s position on this matter. The Chamber of Mines warmly welcomes the launch of the state mining company’s project. Our position is based on an assurance from government through the Department of Mineral Resources that this company will not be given an unfair competitive advantage to private sector companies as this would send the wrong message to investors and potential investors”.
