Judge Meyer Joffe granted an application by the State in the graft case of ex-top cop Jackie Selebi in the High Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday to fix a crucial typing error.

"I'm going to grant the amendment," the judge said.

This was in response to an application by State prosecutor Gerrie Nel to change the dates on the charge sheet after admitting to a crucial typing error.

"I am embarrassed... there was a typing error... and it was repeated," said Nel.

"Why it was missed my Lord...[I don't know]. I read it a hundred times, and I missed it."

The time period in which Selebi allegedly committed crimes should be from 2000 to 2006, and not 2000 to 2005, said Nel.

It was accordingly changed after the judge granted the state its application.

Convicted drug dealer Glenn Agliotti took the witness stand around 11.45am to continue with his testimony.

Selebi is facing two counts of corruption and defeating the ends of justice, related to payments of at least R1,2-million he allegedly received from Agliotti, slain mining magnate Brett Kebble, and ex-Hyundai boss and mining businessman Billy Rautenbach.
