The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will once again have a presence at the 9th edition of the Southern African International Film and television Market, known as Sithengi, and the Cape Town World Cinema Festival (CTWCF).

Sithengi and the CTWCF kicked off last Friday and will continue until November 20, at the Artscape theatre complex and Cinema Nouveau, V&A Waterfront as well as several townships in Cape Town.

The DAC has supported Sithengi since its establishment in 1995. Over the years, significant inroads have been made to promote the development of, and trade in, African and more specifically South African television and film product to the global market.

This year, Sithengi will be celebrating ten years of democracy and will brand the 2004 festival and market under the banner of “Ten Years of Freedom”.

There will also be a “Proudly South African “ category in the festival, where selection of the best South African feature, documentary and short films will be screened.
