For almost a decade since Global Incubation Day came into existence, this year Seda will celebrate five years of being part of a global network of expertise that focuses on nurturing entrepreneurship through Incubation programmes.

This year’s Incubation Day-a UK initiative will be celebrated in three provinces including Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal and Eastern Cape.

Following the launch of Global Incubation Day, Seda launched its first local Incubation Day in 2010 under Seda Technology Programme to celebrate successes by entrepreneurs, achieved under its guidance through incubation programmes. The aim of this day is to celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship through incubation.

‘’Incubation is one of Seda’s core business objectives for developing and nurturing emerging entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. Seda hopes that Incubation Day will attract more entrepreneurs who have innovative and bankable businesses to join the programme,” says Acting Chief Executive Officer Sipho Zikode at Seda. Incubation is ideal for start-up businesses where they get an opportunity to learn and grow their businesses in a protected environment, adds Zikode.

Seda has 47 incubators across the country. Seda’s incubation programmes cover various sectors including ICT, Construction, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Biodiesel, Biotechnology, Chemical and Mining beneficiation.

The 2015 Incubation Day will focus on educating entrepreneurs on how to cut costs, gain a competitive advantage in the market and streamline operations by deploying appropriate technological innovations.

Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu will be the keynote speaker at the Gauteng event, which will be held at Furntech in Roodepoort on Tuesday 31st of March.
