"The reality is that the Israelis are taking actions that are unsupportive and hamper the implementation of the roadmap," Maher told reporters.
The foreign minister, whose country has been a key mediator in the Middle East conflict, criticised remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who said in Washington Tuesday that construction of the barrier would continue.
Such statements "challenge the efforts being made as well as the parties that are working to implement the roadmap," Maher said.
The Israeli defence ministry announced yesterday that it had completed work on the first, northern section of the wall, which is expected to cut off some ten per cent of the West Bank in what Palestinians see as a deliberate attempt to preempt negotiations on the future boundaries of their promised state. – Sapa-AFP.
