a. The statistics requested for 2006/07 and 2007/08 are attached as Annexure A. b. The statistics for 2008/09 have not yet been released.
c. Please note that a conviction rate was not included in the 2006/07 statistics.
d. The migration of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units to local police stations started in 2006/07, but there are still units in three provinces which have not migrated yet. This means that the other years relevant to this question are 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2005/06. The figures requested for these years did not appear in the annual reports of the South African Police Service covering those financial years. The relevant information has therefore been requested by means of an ad hoc request to information systems management (ISM) in order to procure the raw data needed to compile an appropriate response to this question. The response may take up to six weeks to deliver, depending on the volume of operational requests enjoying precedence before attention can be paid to this office's requests. When the data is received, the detective service will apply its formulas to calculate the requested detection and conviction rates, including those for 2006/07. An answer to this part of the question will then be provided.
