Saftu in the Province is hereby shocked to learn of the number of cases in which an attempt is continually made by some within the ANC in the Province to halt if not hamper Service delivery as lead by the current ageing Premier, Cde Job Mokgoro.

Saftu as a Politically independent, non racial non sexist, fighting, campaigning and militant Trade Union Federation will continue to rally its forces behind in ensuring that the Provincial government remains accountable to the people of the of the Province.

Saftu would also like to remind the Communities of North West relevant as we are as one Social force within the broader political mainstream was the one of the first Organisations in the Province to have made a call for the previous incumbent to resign, which to the majority of our Citizens in this Province, could not believe our vociferous assertion and our determination that the previous incumbent should leave office, and this call was regarded by some sections of our community as a populists pronouncement by Saftu in North West considering that others were still in the honeymoon, due to the packs in power, they were benefitting from.

As an Independent Trade Union Federation, Saftu will continue to raise its voice against all the Social ills and to wage a relentless war against the current Ramaphosa antagonistic contradictions  as a result of the failure of the African National Congress to lead South African State, thus Saftu  stating unequivocally clear that the Neo-Liberal ANC should be completely removed from power by the poor and the vulnerable masses of our people, as the ruling  party continues to please the owners of the means of productions and their oligarchs. Today's ANC its not the ANC of yesteryears. Our people, particularly the working poor should reject any attempt by the ANC to hoodwink them in an opium, believing that the ANC will liberate and advance the interest of the black African majority. The ANC has betrayed that objective.

Saftu due to its political and ideological posture remains convinced that the only true liberation of the broader working class should be through building a popular working class power with the South African Community in general, irrespective of race, and political allegiance. As a young but growing Federation we are being vindicated by the course of history, that one of the objective Saftu had set itself in the Province is to unite the African masses along the common objective, which on the apex of our existence lies nothing else but to forge UNITY with every section of the Working class including COSATU Unions, principled unity of purpose remains our ultimate objective to truly liberate our masses from squalor and abject poverty.

Saftu has consistently managed to rally the masses of our people in the Province behind the common objective in fighting against graft and Corruption, in which amongst many initiatives, the organisation had convened several meetings with other Formations, in which a program of action was overwhelmingly adopted by several structures outside of Saftu, as an organisation rooted within the masses of our people, as workers are first and for most responsible and disciplined members of the community.

We had in the past worked with organisations such as NWBF, Informal Traders Formations, Political Parties, Student formations, Civil Sector formations and COSATU Unions, and NERPO(meat producers) to champion the struggle against graft and corruption in the Province which in a way continue to rob the vulnerable of our people of their basic and fundamental right to life and a right to an adequate basic services.

Part of the campaign which Saftu post its forth coming Provincial Congress shall embark on, will be the following Campaigns in line with Saftu National congress resolutions on:

  1. Decent, Permanent and Sustainable jobs for North West Youth, irrespective of Political allegiance, but through qualifications and competency.
  2. Demand for abolishment of EPW, Internship, Learnership and the Selection board should be established in which Labour becomes a role player in ensuring that the process of selection and appoint is free and fair from any prejudice.
  3. Abolishment of Casualisations and Labour Broking and demand for insourcing of all Security Officers, Municipalities auxiliary Services, into the broader system of governance.
  4. Saftu will post its forth coming Provincial Congress launched a campaign to fight vigorously for the abolishment of Tender System.

Further from the afore mentioned objectives, SAFTU in the Provinces is confronted with the immediate battle to defend the principle of clean, good and accountable governance system.

The following state of development in the Province poses a threat to the afore stated objective, and these are immediate battles SAFTU should in earnest launch a campaign on.

  • Rampant Corruption in Madibeng and Rustenburg
  • An Attempt by the current ANC PEC to undermine the current effort by the NW Premier to rid Government of Corruption
  • Failure by Municipalities to pay Service Providers
  • Saftu NW view on the current initiative by the Premier in fighting Corruption.
  • An attempt by Mahikeng Local Municipality MM threatening Councillors with litigations.

We are therefore calling once again the masses of our people to continue working with the working class formations, and vice versa that it is only through this initiative of building the nucleus of the popular working class power to fight against neo-liberalism, against Corruption and launched their demand for permanent and sustainable jobs to restore the dignity of the African majority. Saftu will continue to working with other working class formations irrespective of their political allegiance but around the common social and economic objectives of the poor and marginalised working class Communities.

Saftu will continue to support the struggle lead by Communities and some sections of the civil sector formations around the Country, i.e. the #totalshutdown, #feesmustfall around GBV, MACUA Civic organisations in demand for decent and affordable housing, we support the struggle for egalitarian Society, and Saftu will once again post its Provincial Congress convene a Provincial Working Class Summit to build a momentum towards 2019 and beyond, as it is becoming unequivocally clear that the ANC do no longer provide hope for the people of the country, this assertion is informed by the recent development in which it had quite significantly adopted policies which are anti-working class and the poor of our people, which is lying bare for 54 millions South African Citizens to see.

This has been done through the ANC austerity budgets, the increase on tax, the recent petrol hikes, the long hidden plan to retrench 30.000 Public Sector workers through severance packages and other means, to shed jobs in mining, in energy sector and many other Sectors of the economy, and this is the aim and objective of the ANC to please its masters and the rating agencies by pushing the poor people more into the doldrums of poverty, unemployment andinequality.

Saftu is therefore vindicated that Cyril Ramaphosa is nothing else but a Shop-Steward of the Oppenheimer’s and the problems of this country cannot be attributed to one single individual and expected to be addressed by Cyril Ramaphosa, but are infect as a result of the ANC Failed economic policies.

Saftu in the North West line with the national program will continue to campaign for the nationalisation of mines, banks and its monopoly industries, Saftu will continue to push for the industrialisation of the South economy to more create more decent and sustainable jobs, fight illicit cash-out-flows and beneficiation, The fight against the introduction of the IPP and plans to privatise ESCOM, which will lead to massive job cuts in the energy sector, which has a potential to affect more than 6000 families remains another pinnacle of massive campaigns against the Co-operate Capture which is purpetuated by “Thuma Mina Bakhwenyana Brigades”

We shall continue to mobilise our society around this common objectives which the ANC Government is hellbent on privatising to advance their narrow selfish economic agenda.

The Housing for public Sector workers, GEMS, and safe, affordable transport for the Working Class shall be pursued and all these are what Saftu NW Provincial Congress will touch base on, building towards Saftu 1st Central Community from 09-12 September 2018.
