The South African Democratic Students Movement has welcomes plans to build
universities in Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape as pronounced by the
President of the Republic. We believe this will go a long way in addressing
the socio-economic issues we have experienced in the past.

We would like to further encourage the youth in Mpumalanga and the Northern
Cape to respect these assets as theirs and for future generations. Let these
Universities be the site of academic excellence aimed at nation building and
ensuring that South African youth receive quality education.

We once again welcome the President's remarks with regard to increasing the
number of learnerships to 20 000 per annum in government departments. We
sincerely hope the President was not paying lip service but shall put
pressure on government departments to give post graduates the much needed
experience required for one to attain employment in South Africa.
