The South African Communist Party (SACP) will this weekend hold the 19th Quarterly Plenary Session of its 13th Congress Central Committee. The Central Committee is the highest decision-making body in between the Party’s quinquennial National Congresses.
The purpose of the meeting is to assess progress on the implementation of the Party’s Political Programme, the South African Road to Socialism. The Central Committee will in this context discuss the state of the SACP and the Alliance, the political situation facing South Africa, the country’s economy, social transformation, the international context, and the tasks facing the Party. The meeting will assess the Party’s state of readiness towards its 14th Congress scheduled to take place in July.

The SACP invites the media to a photo op and a post-meeting press briefing to take place at the venue of the meeting as follows.

The press briefing will be addressed by SACP National Officials led by the Party’s General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande.
