The nation today witnessed the theatrics of a small disgruntled group which named itself COPE enacting its anti-Zuma campaign in the National Assembly. These charlatans, led mainly by those who championed the anti Zuma operation in the run up to the ANC Conference in 2007, has stooped low and exposed itself for what it is - a right wing group bent on derailing the Zuma presidency.

That they used parliament for this publicity gimmick is indeed worrying and constitutes a travesty to our democracy.

The SACP rejects their attempts to dilute public discourse and derail the nation in their Polokwane hangover. They could not accept this democratic outcome and instead walked out. Till today, they cannot accept the democratic outcome of the general elections held in 2009 wherein the ANC under the leadership of Cde Zuma was given a resounding mandate to lead this country. The antics of this anti-communist right wing grouping have no space in our national assembly. The National Assembly is not a space for publicity contests but a place to provide coherent leadership over the five priorities of the nation which is education, health, placing our economy on a different growth path that will create decent jobs, rural transformation and fighting crime and corruption.

On these issues, at least, we are clear that these political opportunists and their friends in the DA will never succeed.
