The SACP has received with shock and sadness the news of the passing away of Zenani Mandela, the great grandchild of our former President, Nelson Mandela.
It is indeed sad that this tragic accident claimed her life on the eve of the kick off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup for which Madiba campaigned so hard for. We understand that due to this it may now not be possible for former President Madiba to attend the official opening ceremony. We understand and we hope the rest of the country and the world will understand.
Our heartfelt condolences to Madiba for we know how much he loves his great grandchildren, to Zindzi Mandela, to Zenani's mother Zoleka Seakamela and the entire Mandela family.
