The Western Cape branch of the South African Communist Party (SACP) called upon it's members to become actively involved in rebuilding the African National Congress (ANC) to ensure that the priorities stated in the Polokwane resolution were met, the party said in a statement on Sunday.
At the conclusion of the SACP's Western Cape two-day provincial congress in Bellville on Sunday, the party acknowledged that since the inauguration of the ANC Provincial Task Team in the province, alliance relations had improved.
"Therefore, the congress calls upon all alliance partners to rededicate its structures to building unity and cohesion of our liberation movement.
"We firmly believe that the ANC is a relevant vehicle to advance, deepen and defend the national democratic revolution."
The congress also stated that there would be an "intensification" of the fight against corruption, claiming that there had been a resurfacing of "reactionary elements that are corrupt and spoilt, in the form of tenderpreneurship".
The party said in its statement that corruption was corruption whether it occurred in the State or the private sector.
