SACCI expects enterprise support, especially for SME’s and support for the business environment to be a key theme of the State of the Nation address 2012. In the address on the 9th of February, SACCI will be seeking clarity on the following issues:
• Government support measures to enable businesses to create more jobs, especially for the youth, and to stimulate economic activity.
• Reduction of regulatory bottlenecks and red tape for business generally and SMEs in particular in order to reduce the cost of doing business in South Africa.
• General business support, promotion initiatives and plans to ease the access to finance for SMEs through the realignment of Development Finance Institutions (DFI’s).
• Plans to improve the education system and facilitate greater access to skills for business.
• Improved crime and corruption prevention strategies, especially regarding crimes against businesses.
• Reassurance to foreign and domestic investors on economic stability specifically relating to concerns on Nationalisation.
• The status of the National Development Plan (NDP) and its implementation program.
• Outcomes of the Presidential performance monitoring system and feedback on the performance management system for government officials.
• Progress on the local government turnaround strategy.

SACCI trusts that President Jacob Zuma will use the opportunity of the State of the Nation Address to provide clear direction on the way forward for South Africa.
