SACCI welcomes the publication of the Reserve Bank Amendment Bill that aims to strengthen and secure the independence of the central bank. Such a move is important for business confidence, both locally and internationally.
While there must be cooperation between the fiscus and the central bank, the maintenance of the independence of the central bank is essential.
SACCI supports the Treasury in this initiative, and will continue to cooperate with the South African Reserve Bank on this and other issues that promote its independence.
