Correctional Services Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has hailed the Reverend Dr. Khoza Elliot Mgojo, who passed away on 2 September 2012, as a voice of reason who could be trusted for guidance.

“In the passing away of Mfundisi Mgojo a big tree has fallen: a man larger than life itself; a teacher of the faith, a leader of the people, a peacemaker, a passionate mouth piece for what he believed in, a spokesperson for the down trodden as well as a historian of note.

“I fondly recall the zeal with which Rev. Mgojo excelled at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, how he fought for Endaleni College old students, the passion he demonstrated for the people of uMzimkhulu before they were incorporated into the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Rev. Mgojo was a chaplain for the aged, a service he performed with utmost dedication to the end. To me personally, he was a father and guide during a difficult period in KwaZulu-Natal when we needed a voice of reason that we could trust for guidance.

“Rev. Mgojo outlived the biblical three score years and ten of our stay in this world, and led an honest life full of vibrancy, activity and self-sacrifice. He has, indeed, fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. To his family, thanks for sharing your husband, father and grandfather with the South African community. Hamba kahle mfo wase Mabongweni,” Minister Ndebele said.
