A Parliamentary Press Gallery Association (PGA) delegation led by Joylene van Wyk and Donwald Pressly, co-chairpersons, held discussions last night, 30 May 2011, with the Cabinet Spokesperson and Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) Chief Executive Officer, Jimmy Manyi. The parties had an engaging discussion about the process of facilitating the transparency of government's messages and facilitating balanced media coverage of government.
It was the first meeting of its kind since Mr Manyi took up the post as Cabinet Spokesperson. Matters of mutual concern and the building of a constructive relationship between the two bodies, the PGA and the GCIS, were discussed. The parties agreed to holding follow up meetings when necessary.
