South Africa and Iran enjoy formal diplomatic relations. There are well over 20 bilateral agreements between our two countries. Both Parliaments also are members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The South African Parliamentary delegation consisted of Mr Sisulu, Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms M Oliphant, House Chair of International Relations, Mr E Rasool, MP, and supporting staff. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen country to country relations with Iran and to build the relationship between our Parliaments.
