The IFP believes that the Department of Police is incapable of reducing rape
and other sexual offences simply because when rapists are arrested they are
almost immediately released on bail.
"The truth is most of these offenders re-offend and recently elderly women
have been their latest targets. The police should focus properly
investigating these crimes and actively protecting women and children, who
are the most vulnerable," said IFP Spokesperson on Police, Hon Velaphi
Ndlovu MP.
The IFP has always believes that small businesses absorb most of the labour
force in our country and they need to be assisted and protected as much as
possible.
"The protection of small businesses should be high on the agenda of the
government" said Ndlovu, "because if the businesses are hampered by crime,
unemployment rates will rise, thus defeating the purpose of establishing the
businesses in the first place".
The IFP desires to see the by-laws of each city being strictly enforced so
as to curb illegal business establishment and make it extremely difficult
for any criminal activities to be conducted. With the help of the
communities, the police can ensure that crime levels truly decrease.
