The Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI) has been instructed to represent the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) at the Marikana Commission of Inquiry. AMCU is fully committed to assisting the Commission in its work. It has every confidence that the Commission will proceed in a balanced and fair-minded way in uncovering the truth of the tragic events which took place at Marikana in August 2012.

SERI also anticipates that it will in due course be instructed to represent some of the families of persons killed or injured by the police on 16 August 2012.

A further announcement, along with media liaison details, will follow as soon as possible.
