President Jacob Zuma has, in terms of Section 13(1) read with 13(8) of the Broadcasting Act of 1999, appointed four non-executive members to the Board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), with effect from 3 June 2011 for a term ending on 9 June 2015.
The four members are Dr Sethe Patricia Makhesha, Mr John Sembie Danana, Adv Cawekazi Benedicta Mahlati and Mr Lumko Caesario Mtimde. They replace the members of the Board who had resigned last year, namely, Ms Felleng Sekha, Ms Barbara Masekela, Mr David Niddrie and Mr Makgatho Mello.
“I wish them all the success in this important endeavour and I am certain that they are aware of the immense responsibility the nation has placed on them, to serve the country through our national broadcaster, the SABC,” said President Zuma.
