Parliament has accepted and implemented the findings and recommendation of the disciplinary hearing against its Chief Financial Officer, Mr Leslie Mondo, that he be dismissed with immediate effect.

The outcome has been communicated to Mr Mondo and his representative.

Mr Mondo was charged with five counts of misconduct related to financial matters. He was found guilty on four of these.

The proceedings were concluded on 14 August and the chairperson of the hearing made findings and a recommendation on 20 August.

No further internal process will be entered into.

The disciplinary hearing involving the Secretary to Parliament, Mr Zingile Dingani, are not yet concluded.

The disciplinary hearings follow recommendations by the Auditor General, who was asked by Parliament’s Presiding Officers to investigate a salary advance of R186 000 received by Mr Dingani in December 2011 for the construction of a security wall at his residence.

Both Mr Dingani and Mr Mondo have been on leave since 26 March.
