The National Planning Commission (NPC) is chaired by the Minister in The Presidency for National Planning, Minister Manuel. The President tasked the Commission with developing a draft long term Vision Statement and Strategic National Plan 2025 for South Africa. The process of developing this draft vision statement and draft development plan will include extensive research, discussion and engagement across our country and will also provide opportunities for people to come forward with ideas and suggestions. The final product, the vision and development plan, will be considered by Cabinet andcould help inform the formulation of individual departmental plans. The Commission will also advise on cross-cutting issues that impact on South Africa's long term development.

Currently the NPC is working on critical issues that are relevant to the development of South Africa. Nation Building is one issue that is at the heart of the NPC work.

The NPC would like to invite all South Africans to engage in a social electronic dialogue that will stimulate a constructive Nation Building debate on values and ethics. Individuals who participate in the debate will form part of the NPC JAM Session. The details of the debate are as follows:
