Mpumalanga MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr Norman Mokoena, says the PMR (Professional Management Review) Africa Golden Arrow awarded to the Department, will serve as an encouragement to the Head of Department and his team to continue to perform with zoom and zeal.
This follows a random sampling of 170 respondents comprising of CEO’s, MD’s, business owners, company directors, senior employees and senior government officials who collectively agreed that the Department is “doing most for overall prosperity and growth” in the province.
“We are humbled and honoured as a Department, to have been recognized through the PMR Africa Golden Arrow award, for striving to contribute towards reducing unemployment, poverty and inequality, working together with our partners. We thank all the 170 respondents who took part in the survey for recognizing our work,” said an ecstatic MEC Mokoena.
The PMR Africa Awards follow a research process whereby companies, departments, institutions and individuals are nominated and rated by respondents against specific attributes or criteria. The 170 respondents were asked to rate companies, government departments or institutions they deal with across a range of 20 attributes, amongst them:
- Accuracy of member benefit statements
- Administration/IT systems
- Communication of benefit options
- Communication of general issues and problems
- Efficiency in dealing with member’s changes in benefit options
- Efficiency/accuracy of benefit payments
- Efficiency/changes of membership

- Knowledge of staff
- Power of staff to make decisions and solve problems
- Reputation of administrator
- Simplicity and clarity of member benefit statements
- Speed of problem solving

- Value for money
- Website accessibility for members and employers.
“I congratulate the Head of Department, Dr Vusanani Dlamini and his team, for the work they continue to perform in shaping and directing the provincial economic growth trajectory. I urge team dedet to put all hands on deck, as we facilitate the implementation of the Mpumalanga Economic Growth and Development Path (the MEGDP). Well done to team dedet for winning us the Golden Arrow Award,” concluded the MEC.
According to PMR Africa:
- The awards are always the end result of a research process whereby companies, departments, institutions and individuals are nominated and rated by respondents against specific attributes or criteria;
- A company, department, institution and individual cannot “enter” the research process, but must always be nominated and rated by the respondents; and
- The ratings are always based on the perceptions of the respondents.
