The Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Marikana tragedy led by Minister in The Presidency for Performance Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration, Mr Collins Chabane will be attending funerals of the victims of the Marikana tragedy this weekend.

The Committee accompanied by members of the provincial and local governments will attend the services to convey a message of support and offer condolences to the families of the deceased.

Government has so far issued 43 death certificates to families for burials to take place.

Government social workers continue to provide counselling to bereaved families. Assistance is also being provided with regard to funeral needs as required by the families. Transport has been provided for families and miners to attend the various funerals, 18 busses and 17 taxis are being utilised.
