South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Marius Fransman, who serves as President Jacob Zuma’s Special Envoy on Madagascar, is in the Seychelles to hold discussions with the political leadership of Madagascar. The leaders include Mr Andry Rajoelina and Mr Marc Ravalomanana.
South Africa is the current chair of the SADC Organ Troika on Politics, and it is in this capacity that Deputy Minister Fransman is facilitating the meeting between the Malagasy political leaders. The meeting takes place under the auspices of the SADC in with the SADC Roadmap on Madagascar.
The Seychelles hosts the meeting in its capacity as chair of the Indian Ocean Commission and as a SADC member state.
