A 35 year old  appeared in the Tembisa Magisterial Court yesterday after
he was caught for speeding.

The Gauteng Traffic Police's High Speed Unit caught Mr Cooper on the 9th
of September 2012 whilst he was traveling at an average speed of 182 km/h
with his white Mercedes Benz C350 on the R21 near Olifantsfontein. He claimed
there was a break-in at one of his businesses and was responding to the
scene.

The Magistrate made it clear that despite the fact of all the media
releases from Arrive Alive, with the slogan of speed kills, Mr Cooper still ignored
it by traveling in excess of 62km/h above the legal speed limit of
120km/h, althought the accused admitted that he committed the offence willingly and
intentionally. According to the magistrate, it is clear that Mr. Cooper
showed remorse and is sorry about the offence committed.

On defence for the driving license not to be suspended, Mr Cooper's
defence claimed that Mr Cooper had started his life over after rehabilitation and
try to earn a decent living. He is responsible for 3 dependents and needs
his vehicle to travel all over Gauteng.

Mr Cooper is in partnership and collects scrap metal for a business. He
meets with clients and then has to collect all scrap metals by himself and
transport it to Gauteng where it will be distributed. He does not have any
drivers to do the collection.

Mr. Cooper walked away with a R3000 fine or 6 months imprisonment.
