In the current legal dispute between Sishen Iron Ore Company (SIOC), the Department of Mineral Resources and Imperial Crown Trading 289 (Pty) Ltd (ICT), the Department of Mineral Resources confirms that the Director-General, Advocate Sandile Nogxina has today (Thursday, January 27) deposed to a voluminous answering affidavit on behalf of Minister, Susan Shabangu as the First Respondent.

The affidavit is filed in response to equally voluminous papers filed by SIOC in this matter during last year, wherein the Department's decision to grant a prospecting right to ICT is being challenged.

It is expected that the First Respondent's answering papers will be served on the applicant and other Respondents by close of business today, and filed with the Registrar of the High Court soon thereafter.
