Correctional Services National Commissioner Mr. Tom Moyane is confident that the Department of Correctional Services will achieve improved financial management.
Following a presentation in Parliament in Cape Town today (16 October 2012), to the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services, on the Department’s latest (2011/12) annual report, Mr. Moyane said: “Our Minister, the Honourable Mr. Sibusiso Ndebele, instructed us to implement a turnaround strategy and plan to ensure improved financial management with respect to issues raised by the Auditor-General regarding the Department of Correctional Services 2011/12 annual report. To this end, last Thursday (11 October) we met with officials from the Office of the Auditor-General and on Friday (12 October) our senior management team worked out a road map and put necessary measures in place to ensure a complete shift. We are working hard, and we are confident that our collective efforts as a Department will result in better financial management,” said Mr. Moyane.
