Government is pulling all stops to ensure ticket-holders efficient and easy access to the final match and the closing ceremony of the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held at the National Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, 10 February.

In this regard, the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) has put in place a transport plan with a number of public transport and park and walk options. The City of Joburg has also encouraged ticket holders to plan their trip to the stadium and to leave early to avoid queues and congestion.

The following transport options are available:

Rea Vaya BRT: Ticket-holders can catch the Rea Vaya bus for R17.00 return from any Rea Vaya station or stop in Soweto and the inner city. All feeder and complementary routes will be serviced before and after the match and fans using the feeder service will be paying R9 extra for the return journey. Route details can be accessed on www.reavaya.org.za;
Train Services: Metrorail will be running services from Vereeniging, Naledi, Lerallo, Daveton, Katlehong, Springs, Randfontein, Pretoria, Mabopane, Mamelodi, Atteridgeville as well as Park Station and Westgate in the CBD;
Park and Ride facilities: Spectators should drive to Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein or Westgate at the bottom end of the CBD, park their cars and board a Rea Vaya bus to the stadium. Maximum travelling time is 20 minutes and the ticket per person for parking and the trip there and back is R30. The service will start operating four hours before the opening and closing ceremonies and users should be back at their cars one hour after the game has ended;
Park and Walk: Supporters should drive to the stadium and park at a number of the Park and Walk facilities in the area. This will cost R50 per sedan vehicle, R100 per taxi and R400 per bus. Facilities will open four hours before the opening and closing ceremony. Supporters can pre-book their parking space at Computicket to secure a parking place. Marshalls will direct motorists to the most convenient Park and Walk facility and gates will remain open until all cars have left.

Government therefore calls on all spectators with tickets for the final match and closing ceremony to utilise the public transport facilities that have been put in place.
