The Office of the ANC Chief notes and welcomes the decision of Parliament to dismiss with immediate effect its Chief Financial Officer, Mr Leslie Mondo. The dismissal is as a result of Parliament's disciplinary hearing, instituted as per recommendations of the Auditor General, against the Secretary of Parliament, Mr Zingile Dingani, and Mr Mondo. Mr Dingani's disciplinary hearing has not been concluded.

Both Mr Mondo and Mr Dingani were involved in the questionable approval of R186 000 for the construction of a security wall at the residence of Mr Dingani.

Parliament's presiding officers must indeed be commended for the swiftness and urgency with which they dealt, and continue to deal, with the matter. This indeed augurs well for the institution's uncompromising stance against corruption and its drive for clean and accountable governance. It inspires great confidence and trust that Parliament, as our country's lawmaking and oversight body, is lea
